Usage of CSIRO ASC systems and software - what will it cost me?

One of the first questions asked by many potential users of the ASC systems is, "what will it cost me?". The answer is nothing! There are no direct net charges to CSIRO users for use of the facilities. There are guidelines about attributing the cost when using ASC systems on projects charged to external clients.

Alf Uhlherr was seconded to the ASC in 2005-2006 from CSIRO Molecular & Health Technologies. While at the ASC, he completed a paper entitled the Utilisation of High Performance Computing in CSIRO

Using external comparisons, the paper concluded that CSIRO's current levels of ASC investment and utilisation are approximately half of what might be expected, and that CSIRO's discipline spread of ASC applications is approximately half of what would be expected.
